The hall promotes education, training, arts, culture, heritage, community development and employment.

 

It is used for education, parties, cultural activities including the Rural Touring Network, pantomimes, plays and films, licensed bar facilities, church socials, social gatherings, health screening, parish meetings, polling station, clubs, societies, Brownies and Women's Institute meetings.

The hall is available for hire to individuals and organisations located or operating within the parish of St Oswalds, and also by arrangement with others from outside the area who wish to use the facilities. Details of charges and conditions can be found here.

The village hall comprises the following:-

Main Hall

Main Hall Used mainly for larger functions measuring 13M x 7.5M. This excludes a raised stage area. It has seating facilities for upto 100, together with a backstage area.

This leads onto:-

 

The Garden Room

A new extension in 2004 opening out onto a patio and woodland area. Measuring 9M x 5M, this room is ideal for conferences and meetings and as an additional area linked to the main hall.

Bar & Servery

Bar & Servery This room was added in 1984 and is naturally used as a reception area either for small parties, or as an extension to users of the Garden Room or the Main Hall. There is a serving hatch to the kitchen behind which allows the serving of pre-cooked food as required.

The hall has a premises licence which enables the bar to be used for private functions.

 

Kitchen

The kitchen provides a modern facility to enable food to be prepared and served.

The kitchen has recently (Autumn 2010) been significantly upgraded, as this picture shows.

Committee Room

This was constructed as part of a refurbished block in 1996 to provide a small committee room (8.5M x 4M) offering facilities for meetings of up to 20 people.

 

Other Facilities

The hall has provision for full access and toilet facilities for the disabled.

There are extensive car parking facilities at the front and side of the hall with an overflow area on the old tennis court next to the A41.
