What’s next in the build after the roofing & cladding?

After an unavoidable delay (by others) in the building programme, our main contractor is back on site late May / early June when the roofing and cladding elements will start. So it won’t be long then before the building’s skeleton will disappear first beneath its roof cladding followed by a striking design of wall cladding to the main hall.

The ‘amenity’ block (reception area, bar, kitchen, toilets, stores etc) walls are of brick, some of which have been ‘adopted’ by villagers wanting ‘to be part of the programme’!

Well look out for the installation of the new colourful windows and external doors due to start around the end of June. It’ll be worth the wait!!

New Hall Community Initiatives

Now that our hall building programme is underway thoughts are turning to other initiatives to enhance both our local environment and the enjoyment of those living in our environment.

Where?

The stretch of land which runs down Station Road from the A41 junction down to the corner of the old tennis courts is particularly overgrown and unattractive. There are indeed some previously funded trees planted in amongst the wild growth to be ‘rescued’. A flat, raised bank running from the new hall all the way into the ‘A41’corner has been created which could be a useful area to develop. Other areas would follow.

What’s to be done?

These areas, to start with, need re-claiming and nurturing. The undergrowth needs a good clear out. The vision is to create useful areas for recreation, the encouragement of insects and birdlife, seating area for MUGA spectators and lots more. Sapling planting, evergreen bushes, picnic areas, natural pathways??

Some ideas?

These images might inspire villagers to volunteer to start their own working group and make a start in creating another community asset. What would you bring to the project?

insect hotels, play dens, vegetation wigwams. What would you create?

Now What?

Interested villagers could form a group (or smaller groups) of willing volunteers to plan, shape and execute this initiative. If you and yours would like to get this going, then in the first instance please Contact Us or alternatively drop a note into the white post box in The BookStop, Townfield Lane.

STOP PRESS
